"Pico Laser" is the new buzzword in the aesthetic world
By Dr Chung Wan Ling

What’s the hype all about?

The main indication for the use of a picosecond laser is tattoo removal. Depending on their wavelength, picosecond lasers are particularly useful for clearing blue and green pigments, which are difficult to eliminate using traditional lasers.

The “pico” in picosecond laser refers to the duration of the delivery of each shot of light energy. A picosecond is one-trillionth of a second. Among the various brands of picosecond lasers available for treatment, the pulse duration (from 450 picoseconds to 750 picoseconds) and wavelengths of light (from 532nm to 1064nm) determine the effectiveness of the laser.

At IYAC, the Revlite Nd-YAG laser remains our go-to laser. This nanosecond laser delivers energy in one-billionth of a second and its two wavelengths, 532nm and 1064nm, have a long-established history of treating epidermal and dermal lesions effectively.

The additional benefit of the Revlite laser is its photoacoustic twin pulse mode (PTP), a unique laser emitting mode that allows the pigment to vibrate and fragment upon absorbing the light energy without harming the surrounding tissues. Lasering in the PTP mode also helps to rejuvenate and brighten the skin while improving pores.

IYAC’s popular Laser Circuit allows the flexibility to customize a treatment program to address your skin’s everchanging concerns. Our diverse range of lasers and light devices (Revlite Nd-YAG, Long Pulse Nd-YAG, Dual Yellow Light, IPL and LED) provides the repertoire of wavelengths needed to address pigments, pores and pimples effectively, while maximizing rejuvenation benefits.
