Collagen Rebuilding Program

Ever looked at old photographs and wished you still had the facial contour and smooth skin of your younger years? Or lamented the loose skin and stretch marks that follow childbirth? Or wished your hands and neck did not reveal your true age?

The solution is collagen.

When does collagen loss start to occur?

We start to lose collagen, fat and muscle in our early 30s. This results in skin hollowing, sagging, wrinkling and loss of structure – not just in the face, but in the neck, hands, and joints too. This is a good time to start thinking about collagen rebuilding.

What services are part of the Collagen Rebuilding Program?

IYAC’s Collagen Rebuilding Program includes several treatments that rebuild collagen, including:

1. Certain types of injectables

Certain non-hyaluronic fillers tighten skin and fill in contours by stimulating your body to produce more collagen. Many patients like these fillers as they are metabolized quickly and rely on your own body to naturally tighten your skin. Collagen-stimulating injectables include:

Sculptra is an FDA-approved filler containing poly-L-lactic acid. It is a liquid (not a gel) so you do not see same-day results, but rather results start to appear about a month after your initial treatment. Most people need several sessions to achieve their desired look. Results from three sessions, scheduled 1 month apart, can last up 2 years.

Price: from S$1200- S$1300 single session.

Ellansé is an HSA-approved filler that provides same-day results with the same longevity of results as Sculptra. It’s a gel so once injected it fills in lost volume. Over the course of three months, the filler is metabolized by the body. During this time, components of the filler stimulate the skin toproduce more collagen to maintain the volumized look. One session of Ellansé is priced higher than Sculptra but most people need only one session for results that are long-lasting (up to two years)Depending on the skin condition and degree of laxity, one session consists of anything from 1 to 5 syringes.

Price: from S$1500 (1 syringe) single session

2. Ultrasound

High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) stimulates collagen production by penetrating deep skin layers with heat energy. Ultrasound can lift and tone loose skin as well as minimize fine lines and wrinkles. Two collagen-stimulating forms of ultrasound include:

Ultherapy is a US FDA-cleared German brand of HIFU produced by Merz Aesthetics. It’s widely used, and you can read about it in everything from The New York Times to Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop.

Price: S$1,500 - S$4,000

HIFU, marketed as Ultra Skin, is an HSA-approved treatment that works similarly to Ultherapy. Both are similar in effectiveness, though HIFU is offered at a lower price and reported to be more comfortable by patients.

Price: S$1200 - S$3,200

Which areas can be treated in the program?

Sculptra and Ellansé are versatile and can treat:

- temples and forehead
- cheeks
- nasolabial folds and marionette lines
- jawline and chin
- certain parts of the body, such as neck, upper arms and knees

Ultrasound can treat the eyebrows, cheeks, lower jaw/jowls, chin, neck and décolletage.
