Laser for Skin Rejuvenation (RevLite®)
This treatment is perfect for those looking for a safe, quick procedure to rejuvenate and revitalize the skin. Laser skin rejuvenation has become the procedure of choice among top celebrities and working population who cannot afford time away from work to recover from more intense procedures, or who want a better solution to sun-damaged, aging or acne-scarred skin.
What is it?
Laser skin rejuvenation is a non-invasive treatment that uses light energy to gently stimulate natural collagen growth, improve pores, remove irregular pigmentation and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
Collagen provides the support network to our skin. As we age, the collagen breaks down causing lines and wrinkles. The laser works by stimulating collagen production. As the new collagen is generated, lines and wrinkles are decreased.
Additionally, years of sun exposure can cause discoloration, large pores, and pigmented or red areas on the skin. Patients report, and studies have confirmed, that this procedure results in a refreshed appearance, an even skin tone, and a decrease in pore size. Those with difficult acne scarring will also notice a marked improvement.
Laser skin rejuvenation does not affect the outer layers of skin, so there is no downtime or prolonged healing process at all.
How does it work?
Unlike laser skin resurfacing, laser skin rejuvenation does not actually remove the outermost layers of the skin. Skin rejuvenation uses a gentle laser to pass light harmlessly through the upper layer of skin allowing the laser heat to stimulate collagen growth deep beneath your skin.
This collagen will continue to develop after the treatment. Over the next months, your body will slowly and naturally fill in wrinkles and scars on its own. Additionally, as the laser light penetrates age spots and other pigmentation, these areas are broken apart and absorbed into the skin. The result is clearer, healthier skin with fewer fine lines, pigmentation and other imperfections.
Is laser skin rejuvenation right for me?
Because the action of laser skin rejuvenation is non-ablative (does not remove any skin) there are many benefits over other traditional laser procedures. The laser treatment is quick and offers no downtime - you can immediately return to your normal activities.
There is minimal discomfort, and a very low risk of any complications. Patients will experience progressive improvement over several months for a fresh, natural look. Laser skin rejuvenation is compatible with a whole host of other cosmetic procedures so that maximum results can be achieved.
Laser skin rejuvenation is an ideal treatment for those that desire to:
- Reduce oiliness of the skin
- Shrink pore size
- Improve facial laxity and textural problems
- Minimise skin discolourations
- Reduce visibility of acne scars
- Diminish fine lines and creases
What body areas can be treated?
The laser can be used to rejuvenate many body areas including the face, hands, neck and chest.
Is it safe? What are the possible side effects?
The Revlite® laser used for skin rejuvenation is one of the trusted lasers on the market today. In the hands of trained medical professionals, the Revlite® laser offers a safe and effective treatment with very little risk of complications. Patients of all skin types can be safely treated - including tanned skin.
What happens during the treatment?
The skin is thoroughly cleansed, and laser-protective goggles are placed over the eyes. A topical anaesthesia can be used if the patient so desires. An invisible laser beam is directed at the face, which heats up the deeper layers of the dermis to stimulate collagen production.
How long does each treatment last?
Each treatment session is about 45 minutes. This includes microdermabrasion followed by gentle extractions, 15 minutes of laser treatment, followed by a Gentlewaves®LED
treatment immediately after to improve the skin's healing process.
Is it painful?
One of the main benefits of treatment with the Revlite® laser is that it offers a very comfortable treatment. This is due largely to the fact that the Revlite® does not work by heating the skin. The sensation can be descibed more as a "tingling" feeling. Anaesthesia is generally not necessary for treatment with this laser. However, topical anaesthesia cream is readily available upon request.
What can I expect after a treatment?
After a laser session, there is rarely any visible effect beyond mild to moderate redness, which usually fades within an hour after treatment. Since there is no wound or injury to the skin, makeup can be applied straight away. Patients can immediately resume their regular daily activities since there is no downtime associated with laser skin rejuvenation treatments.
No specific care is needed after treatment, although you may be asked to avoid sun and some skin products for a period of time after the treatment. It is important to follow your doctor's instructions exactly.
Who is not suitable for laser skin rejuvenation?
Although laser treatments can be used effectively on darker skin, individuals with darker skin tones should be assessed for suitability beforehand.
How do I prepare my skin for laser treatments?
Avoid sun exposure for at least two weeks before the treatment. Avoid the use of Retin A or other irritating skin products for three days prior to the treatment.
How fast will I see the results, and how many treatments will I need?
Laser skin rejuvenation is a gradual process. Usually patients need 6 treatments spaced at 3-4 weeks apart. Many patients choose to return for touch-up treatments after the initial treatment session ends.
Between S$400-S$450 for a single session, S$2100 for 6 sessions. All prices are subject to 7% GST.
