Laser B.B

What is it?

The BB Laser is a laser treatment for pores and superficial pigments. It’s named after the ever-popular BB cream, a favourite of makeup users around the globe, as results of the laser replicate the look of BB cream – lightened pigmentation, reduced fine lines and smaller pores - without any makeup required.

How does it work?

The laser’s wavelength penetrates to the lower part of the epidermis where it can target freckles, sunspots, age spots and melasma while renewing damaged skin and stimulating collagen production.

Is the BB Laser right for me?

It’s safe for all skin tones as well as sensitive skin. It’s recommended for people that want to:

  • Lighten or eliminate superficial pigmentation and acne scars
  • Reduce fine lines and pore size to improve radiance
  • Calm inflamed skin

How is the BB Laser different from other lasers?

It’s more intensive than Revlite® and Dual Yellow lasers (used in Laser Circuit) and doesn’t require as many treatments. While the Revlite & Dual Yellow lasers are ideal for deeper pigments, the BB laser targets superficial pigments and pore refining. For most people, just one BB Moderate Laser session is enough to achieve the desired results.

How much downtime is involved?

Downtime with the BB Laser ranges from zero to seven days, depending on your skin condition and the results you desire to achieve. The laser comes in three strengths:

Laser Strength

Desired Goal

Downtime

Mild (Luxe)

Hydration & stabilization of dry or irritated skin

Zero

Moderate

Skin rejuvenation of normal skin

5 days

Intense

Removal of resistant skin pigments

7 days

The downtime is “social”, meaning you may keep up with work and social engagements as usual, but avoid photography sessions and other special events.

What happens during the treatment?

The BB Luxe treatment, meant for hydrating and stabilising dry and sensitive skin, does not require any anaesthesia cream

For the BB Moderate and Intense Lasers, topical anaesthesia is applied for tolerable comfort.

The laser feels like a series of tingling pinpricks on the skin.

What can I expect after a treatment?

Immediately after the treatment, your skin will be pink and flushed. For the BB Moderate and Intense Lasers, superficial skin pigmentation may darken with tiny coffee grind-like veneer that will heal and slough off naturally with washing a few days later. Makeup can be applied the day after the treatment.

Many carry on with normal daily activities the day after the treatment, though you should avoid exfoliating skincare, direct sun exposure, swimming and strenuous exercise for one week.

How many treatments are recommended?

Generally, a single BB Laser treatment gives visibly significant results for skin rejuvenation, superficial pigments and pore reduction.
A series of treatments may be required for melasma and acne scarring.

How soon will I see results?

Results can be seen within a week and continue to improve up to 2-3 weeks.

How do I prepare my skin for a BB laser treatment?

Avoid sun exposure for at least two weeks before the treatment. Also, do not use Retin A or other irritating skin products for 3 days before the treatment.
