How does it work?
This procedure works in two ways. First, Botulinum toxin injected into the muscles relaxes the upper platysma muscle along the jaw and neck. This counteracts the natural downward pull on the face as we age. Second, Botulinum toxin injected into the skin stimulates collagen production, which tightens the pores and lifts the cheeks and jowls
Are there additional benefits to this treatment?
Yes. Not only does Botulinum toxin lift and tighten the skin, but also pores are minimized, skin texture is evened out and the lower face is slimmed. The result is a lifting of the face back to a youthful, oval shape. The look is fresh and natural looking.
What happens during a treatment?
Botulinum toxin is injected into the lower jaw and cheek areas using a very fine needle. Generally, the treatment takes about ten minutes. Most patients feel a series of quick stings but discomfort is minimal and brief. Anaesthetic cream can be used to reduce discomfort.
When are results visible?
Results are often seen quickly, but the full effect takes about 2 weeks. It’s a subtle, yet effective way to lift and define the lower jaw. There is little discomfort, minimal downtime, and there is little risk of facial expression loss i.e. the frozen look.
How long do results last?
Results last an average of three to six months after one treatment, and longer with repeat treatments.
Can it be combined with other treatments?
Yes. One of IYAC’s signature treatments – the Liquid Lift– combines Botulinum toxin and fillers to treat the lower jaw. This combination treatment fills wrinkles and folds while simultaneously lifting the lower cheek and nasolabial and jowl areas, helping to construct a defined jawline.
