Botulinum Toxin

How does it work?

Botulinum toxin causes controlled weakening of specific muscles by blocking signals between nerves and muscles. The injected muscle no longer contracts, causing the overlying skin to relax and soften as well. New lines are also prevented from forming. More recently, Botulinum toxin is also being injected into the skin, rather than the muscles, to stimulate collagen growth.

What areas can be treated?

Prevalent areas to use Botulinum toxin for cosmetic enhancement include:
Wrinkles and lines – to smooth the skin on the forehead, brow area and eye area and prevent new wrinkles from forming
Jaw slimming – to slim the jawline by reducing the size of the jaw muscles, resulting in a more feminine oval face shape
Sagging Jaws – to lift and tighten loose skin in the lower face that begins to drop due to gravity and long-term high-impact sports activity
– Neck – to reduce horizontal and vertical lines in the neck
Entire face i.e. a Botulinum toxin Facelift – to stimulate collagen for an lifting and tightening effect all over the whole face
