What is it?
IYAC’s Liquid Lift combines Botulinum toxin and fillers in one treatment. Most people have a few areas on the face they would like to treat, some which respond well to Botulinum toxin and some to injectable fillers. The Liquid Lift allows these concerns to be corrected together using the benefit of both treatments.
The Liquid Lift is a non-surgical technique that aims to give a natural and fresh rejuvenation effect while minimizing recovery time and telltale signs of having “work” done. The combination of Botulinum toxin and injectable fillers work together to give the effect of a mini-facelift without any surgery – or the risks of surgery – required.
Is the Liquid Lift right for me?
The Liquid Lift is ideal for patients – male and female – that desire to:
– create a subtle cheek lift
– define the jawline
– restore the youthful, triangular shape of the face
– reduce fine lines and folds
– have minimal downtime and minimal risks
– prolong or altogether avoid the need for cosmetic surgery
How does it work?
Botulinum toxin stops muscle contractions that cause lines and wrinkles to show and develop. Read more about Botulinum toxin.
Fillers add lost volume and fill in the hollows/furrows in the face that develop over time due to the skin’s loss of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. Read more about Fillers.
Which areas of the face can be treated?
Botulinum toxin is the preferred treatment for:
– wrinkles around the outer portion of the eyes (Crow’s feet)
– horizontal lines in the forehead when raising eyebrows (forehead lines)
– less pronounced vertical lines between eyes (frown lines)
– small lines on the nose when smiling (bunny lines)
– lines causing corners of the mouth to turn down (marionette lines)
Injectable fillers are the preferred treatment for:
– hollowing under the eyes and around the temples
– more pronounced vertical lines between eyes (frown lines)
– lines from the nose to the mouth (nasolabial folds)
– lines around the upper lip (lipstick or smoker’s lines)
– lip enhancement
– popply or dimpled chins
Additionally, certain problems respond positively to a combined treatment of both Botulinum toxin and filler. For example, frown lines can be treated with fillers alone, but a quick shot of Botulinum toxin used in conjunction with the fillers restores smoothness to the forehead more adequately than with a filler alone. By combining both techniques together, patients will experience results that are more visible and enduring.
What can I expect during and after the procedure?
The Liquid Lift lasts approximately 30 to 45 minutes. This procedure is performed with a topical local anesthetic to ensure that the treatment is as comfortable as possible. Botulinum toxin is injected using a very fine needle, and most patients report feeling a quick sting similar to an insect bite. Fillers are also injected using a fine needle to fill and enhance the targeted area, during which time a small amount of tolerable discomfort will be experienced.
There may be swelling and redness over the treated area immediately after the treatment. This usually subsides within a few minutes to a few hours. Makeup may be applied immediately after the treatment. Most patients are able to resume normal activities on the same day or by the next day, however strenuous exercise should be avoided for 48 hours after the treatment.
Results are immediate, however, the face may take a few days to settle into its natural shape. A small amount of swelling or puffiness for 1 to 2 days is normal.
How long do the results last?
Liquid Lift using Hyaluronic acid Fillers last 6 to 9 months, while Collagen Stimulating Fillers last 12 months.
After repeated Botulinum toxin treatments, the treated muscles tend to atrophy so the effects tend to last longer. Refresher treatments can be done every 6 to 24 months depending on the type of filler used and desired results.

What are the side effects?
Side effects can include bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, and itching at the injection sites. Most of these diminish within 48 hours with the exception of mild bruising which may take two to 10 days to gradually fade. Make-up is often sufficient to cover most mild bruising. Most patients are able to resume normal activities on the same or the next day, although strenuous exercise should be avoided for 48 hours.

Who is not a good candidate for a Liquid Lift?
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not receive Botulinum toxin or Fillers. Also, Botulinum toxin may not be suitable for patients with conditions that affect muscle activity, such as Bell’s Palsy. People with bleeding disorders, previous allergic reactions that required hospital treatment, or a history of keloid scarring treatment should also avoid fillers.
What do I need to do to prepare for a Liquid Lift?
If you are preparing for a specific event, schedule your treatment no less than 3 to 4 weeks before the date, especially if you are having a filler treatment for the first time. This will give enough time for bruises to resolve should they occur, as well as time for touch-ups if required.
At your initial consultation, our doctors will address your specific concerns taking into account the area being treated, your skin type and budget in order to choose the right filler for you. To minimise bruising, stop blood-thinning supplements and medications five days before your treatment. This includes aspirin, vitamin E, fish oil and gingko. Also, inform our doctors if you have occasional bouts of cold sores as medication to prevent a reoccurrence may be necessary.
You will be provided with homeopathic preparations such as oral arnica tablets and arnica gel, and you will be given an LED treatment immediately after the treatment to help improve the skin’s natural healing process.
