Aesthetic treatments for lines and wrinkles have come a long way in recent years, offering both subtle and dramatic improvements without invasive surgery. Whether you’re seeking to restore a youthful glow or soften the signs of ageing, a wide variety of options are available, from injectables to energy-based therapies. We ask our founder, Dr Isabelle Yeoh, about the latest in the world of anti-ageing treatments and her recommendations.

Q: For those of us over 30, lines, wrinkles and hollowed areas have begun to form in our face. What are the classic go-to clinical treatments?

Dr IY: At IYAC, we offer only non-invasive treatments. The most well-known options are botulinum toxin and dermal fillers. These treatments are temporary and last several months, but they do require “touch-ups” depending on your needs and skin condition. Botulinum toxin and fillers are so commonplace that they’ve become the “traditional’’ solution for smoothing out the face.

Q: What do you mean by “traditional”?

Dr IY: botulinum toxin and fillers have been widely used for decades and deliver consistent results. However, aesthetic medicine has evolved, offering “regenerative” treatments that promote natural healing and rejuvenation. These newer approaches are gaining attention for their long-term benefits and natural-looking results.

Q: What are the differences between “traditional” and “regenerative” treatments?

Dr IY: Traditional treatments like botulinum toxin and fillers either relax muscles or add volume to the skin. Regenerative treatments such as Poly-d-l-lactic acid, Polynucleotides derived from fish, and bio-remodelling Hyaluronic acidstimulate the body’s natural healing processes. These treatments boost collagen production, repair skin and deliver subtle, long-lasting rejuvenation. The results are entirely natural-looking, with minimal risks and downtime.

Q: How do we decide on whether traditional or regenerative treatments work best for us?

Dr IY: Both types of treatments can work well together—it really depends on what your skin needs and what you’re hoping to achieve. Regenerative aesthetics are gaining a lot of attention these days, and combining both approaches can often provide enhanced, more customised results.

For mild or early signs of lines and wrinkles, our Glass Skin Program uses regenerative treatments like Poly-d-l-lactic acid and Polynucleotides to improve skin health, reduce inflammation, boost collagen, and promote cellular repair. This results in a glowing complexion, helping to delay visible signs of ageing.

Q: So when would you suggest a combination of treatment types?

Dr IY: For more noticeable signs of ageing, we combine the Glass Skin Program with Botulinum toxin for Facelift Unlike traditional botulinum toxin, this technique tightens and lifts the skin naturally, providing a subtle cheek lift and opening the eyes, whilst preserving facial expression.

For deeper wrinkles and sagging, we recommend adding hyaluronic acid injections or a Liquid Lift, which combines botulinum toxin and Fillers for a more visible yet natural-looking result. Pairing injectables with laser treatments like 1927nm Thullium Laser or pico laserenhances skin texture and smoothness, addressing pigmentation, fine lines and enlarged pores.

Q: Some people who are new to injectables tend to be afraid of the unnatural, “frozen” look that we’ve seen in celebrities…

Dr IY: That’s a very common and valid concern. It helps to work with a doctor who listens to your goals and uses a natural, balanced approach. At IYAC, we prioritise subtlety and take a conservative approach. Our philosophy is that less is more.

Regenerative treatments are ideal for achieving a refreshed, natural look without the risk of overdoing it. For example, collagen bio-stimulating fillers not only firm and rejuvenate the skin by encouraging your body’s natural collagen production, but also break down into carbon dioxide and water over time, leaving no residue behind. This ensures your results look genuine and evolve naturally as you age.

Q: What else can we do for anti-ageing aesthetically, beside these treatments?

Dr IY: I believe in pro-ageing—embracing each stage of life and appreciating the beauty in every decade. On a basic level, skincare is essential – keeping your skin well-hydrated with a good moisturiser and using sunscreen daily are key to maintaining a youthful look.

I also remind my clients not to focus too much on erasing every line or wrinkle. Sometimes, those little imperfections add character and charm. Accepting some of them is part of ageing with grace and authenticity.
