What is Microneedling Radiofrequency?
Microneedling Radiofrequency* is a non-surgical slimming treatment that decreases the width of the lower face. It reduces facial width caused by puffy cheeks, double chins and upper neck widening.

What affects the shape of the face?
The shape of your face is largely determined by genetics and bone structure. Other factors – such as weight gain, poor sleep, stress, medication, illness and even bruxism (excessive teeth grinding) – can affect your face shape. Ageing also causes skin to lose elasticity and/or jowls and marionette lines to emerge. Lax skin has a tendency to square off a formerly oval face, and weight gain can change a “V” shape face to more of an “O”. And when it comes to face shape, even small changes can have substantial effects on our physical appearance.
How does Microneedling Radiofrequency work?
Microneedling Radiofrequency uses radiofrequency waves to create a structured, V-shaped lower jaw. Radiofrequency heat works in two ways: first by melting fat accumulations around the jaw and lower face, and second by stimulating collagen production in the skin. With less fat and tighter skin, the face is sculpted and able to more closely align with your natural bone structure.
What is the procedure like?
First, numbing cream is applied on the treatment area for 20 minutes. Then, local anesthesia is injected to further numb the treatment area. The radiofrequency waves are administered via micro-insulated needles. This portion of the treatment takes around 45-60 minutes. At the end of the treatment, a hydrocolloid dressing is applied to help the healing process. Total treatment time is about 90 minutes.
Is it painful?
Anesthesia makes this treatment well tolerated by most people. Approximately 80% of the treatment is painless. You feel only the pressure of the device on your skin. About 20% of the treatment feels like a succession of quick stings to the skin.
How many sessions will I need?
It’s recommended to have 1 to 2 treatments performed 2 months apart.
Is there any downtime?
Immediately after the treatment, the area will appear slightly swollen and red prick marks will be visible on the skin. Noticeable swelling and redness subsides 1 to 3 days later, though it can take up to a week for all swelling to fully resolve. Occasionally, bruising may develop; this takes between 5 to 14 days to heal. We advise patients to plan for 3 to 5 days of downtime due to swelling and occasional bruising and to schedule this treatment at least three weeks before a big event or social occasion.
When can I see results?
Full results are visible 1 to 2 months after the end of your treatment cycle.
Who is a good candidate for Microneedling Radiofrequency?
Good candidates have mild to moderate skin laxity around the lower jaw. This typically happens between 30 to 40 years old, with medium skin laxity settling in between 40 to 50 years old. The treatment is safe for all skin colours because it does not target the skin’s surface.
